Welcome Reception

MONDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 12 NOON – 2PM
UNDERGROUND BAR, BASEMENT, CLARE MARKET

A relaxed introduction to student life at LSE, with alum Shami Chakrabati, director of Liberty.

Your first day on campus can be a hectic one, with very little time to take it all in, between registration, getting an Oyster Card, activating your email account and, of course, meeting and getting to know new people!

At lunchtime on your first official day as a student, we’ll be running an Students’ Union Welcome Reception in the chilled-out, plush leather confines of our Underground Bar. It will involve an informal question and answer session from LSE alum Shami Chakrabati, director of civil liberties pressure group Liberty, followed by a reception where you will have a chance to mingle, eat, drink and chat. Past receptions were massively successful and enjoyable events, including one with Jo Swinson MP (recent LSE graduate and youngest MP in Parliament).

Held before the Undergraduate Inductions begin, and during lunch time, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab some food and hear from a successful former student how LSE opened up new opportunities and made a difference in their life.
