Inductions are where very important, powerful or egotistical people invite you to be their captive audience for bad jokes and lots and lots of very useful information.
Of course, you also get introduced to Howard Davies, our Director, for the first time. Ever the showman, he is bound to at least get a wry smile out of you, and lift your spirits from that hangover or tiredness. Equally important, the Students’ Union General Secretary will be there to chat about student life and the fun side of LSE.
Undergraduates, postgraduates, General Course and PHD students all get their own inductions. There is a Student Services Induction that is also very important to attend to hear all about financial support, welfare, rules and regulations – basically all the information you need to avoid things going wrong.
There is also a special International Students’ Induction, run by the International Students’ Officer. These have been completely full over the past few years – they’re that popular, and we’re always told how useful it was.
Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of information! You won’t be tested but the more you retain, the easier you’ll find settling in.
